3 Healthy Trail Mix Alternatives
In theory, trail mix is an incredible snack because it is packed with protein, carbs, and fats, which gives you the perfect energy boost when your feeling weak or hungry. However, usually when you hear the words 'trail mix' nowadays, you probably think of m&m's, peanuts, and higher calorie items. I really want to bring this snack back to it's roots and make it healthy again, so that people can enjoy it completely guilt-free! I have created 3 variations of snack mixes so that there is at least one that can appeal to every person...also, at the bottom I have a list of ingredients that will help you create your own!
Movie Theatre Mix
3 cups popcorn
8 cocoa roast almonds
2 tbsp Udis vanilla granola
2 Almond Clean Snax (broken up into pieces)
Pinch of chia seeds
Peanut Butter Cup Mix
1/4 cup Kind peanut butter granola
1 tsp vegan dark chocolate chips
1/2 cup gluten free whole o's cereal
Sweet 'n' Spicy Mix
1/2 cup honey'd corn flakes
1 tbsp dried cranberries
1 pinch of cayenne pepper
2 tsp Korean BBQ crunchy chickpeas
Trail Mix Formula
Base/Healthy carb: 1/2 serving of any healthy cereal or around 3 cups of popcorn
Healthy fats: almonds, chia seeds, walnuts, 1/4 cup or 2 tbsp of healthy granola, broad beans, dried chick peas
Something sweet: raisins, dried cranberries, dark chocolate, chopped dates, goji berries, carob chips
Spices: cinnamon, cayenne, ginger, turmeric, nutmeg
