A List of Realistic New Year's Resolutions for 2020

As 2019 comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to start setting goals and intentions for the new year.

Although it is super common to want to achieve something big, most of the time people wind up feeling discouraged after a few short weeks or months. Contrary to what you might think, this phenomenon is absolutely NOT your fault. Seriously, let me reiterate- not your fault!!

The issue isn’t you, it’s the goal. When you set a goal that is difficult to achieve, it immediately causes you to feel overwhelmed and anxious. These feelings over time make it harder and harder to continue your efforts and reach your goals.

With all of that said, I encourage you to choose your goals wisely, and to not reach too high. Below I have compiled a list of some of the most realistic and long-lasting resolutions for the new year. Feel free to take a look at all of them, then choose 1-3 of your favorites to set as your own (& don’t forget to write them down)!

Finally, before moving on, I want to leave you with some key strategies for success.

  1. Make your goals specific

  2. Measure your progress periodically

  3. Make sure they are truly relevant to your life

  4. Create a time-frame in which you’d like to achieve each one

  5. Stay positive & don’t get discouraged
