How to Bounce Back Into Your Routine for Summer

Living a healthy lifestyle has many ups and downs to it. We constantly have to remind ourselves why we live this life and how we can make it sustainable and fun. With summer almost here, it is time re-enter into your fitness or health journey if it has spiraled off track a little, or if you have stayed on track, then it's time to give yourself that extra push to continue on.

So how do you bounce back when you've completely lost your way?

Find a fitness routine or schedule that suits you & stick to it

Figure out what workouts you like & don't like. Once you know that, stick to the things you actually enjoy so that you are more likely to dedicate yourself to your routine. Sign up for classes or subscribe to a gym close to you for extra motivation to hold you accountable!

Set some ground rules

Setting ground rules doesn't mean telling yourself to cut out certain food groups or work out every day. This simply means I want you to make easy & achievable goals for yourself so that you get to accomplish something every single day. Examples of these rules can be eating breakfast every morning, going for a long walk every Sunday, or making sure you get in a certain amount of steps each day.

Brush-up on those self-love techniques

Before starting any type of journey, you have to make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. When you love yourself from the inside out first, you learn that your health is a gift and that treating your body with respect is the most important thing of all. Try hanging inspirational quotes and photos up on your wall, in your bathroom, or inside your closet so that you have constant reminders of why you started this journey in the first place.

Follow the 80/20 rule

Many people think that when they are starting a health journey they need to restrict calories or eat less, but this is a huge myth. The rule I live by is for 80% of the foods I eat to nourish my body, and then 20% of the foods to be good-for-the-soul foods. I highly encourage you to always keep all of your favorite foods in your life, as long as you follow this rule. This keeps you in check and helps you eat everything in moderation.

H20 is your BFF

If there is one simple thing you can do to make yourself healthier, it is hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!! There are tons of apps where you can track how much water you're drinking, but you also can just simply write it in your notes. Take your weight, divide it by 2, and that is how many ounces of water you should be drinking per day!

Get creative with your meals

The best motivator for me to eat healthy is how many fun recipes there are out there that I haven't tried yet! Scroll through my health section or click the category of food you want to make, and follow my Pinterest (@aucourantlife) for tons of recipes and recipe inspiration. The more you make eating healthy fun for yourself, the more you will want to do it!

Get outdoors

A great motivation to work out and eat right is to get outside! Whether you're tanning by the pool, going for a long walk, or going to the beach with some friends, any form of sun and light will give you that extra motivation you need. Staying inside watching TV or sitting on the computer can become depressing and can take a huge toll mentally. Instead, force yourself to get up and get some sun. It does wonders.
