8 Hottest Interior Design Trends of 2018
Just like fashion, interior design trends are constantly changing.
Whether you are interested in interior decor or not, you are constantly being impacted by it. On the surface it might seem materialistic, however, the type of environment you choose to surround yourself with directly impacts your everyday life. I personally choose to surround myself with neutral colors and minimally-cluttered spaces. I switch out minor details every so often such as pillow colors, blankets, and accessories, depending on the current trends; which brings me to my next point...
So what are the current trends?!
Since the start of the year, I have seen a big shift in the interior design world. We've gone from grey & white minimalism to warm and moody color palettes. The vibe this year is all about feeling cozy, at-home, and embracing imperfections. No more straight lines and strict rules; 2018 is the time to experiment with deep hues and intricate patterns. On top of that, you'll be seeing lots of items with international flair, along with tropical wall art & accessories. Although millennial pink has transitioned into more purple hues, I would definitely not say goodbye to last year's most sought-after color just yet. Neutral tones will transition from light grey and white to more earthy tones like dark grey, camel, and rust. We began experimenting with mixing metals in 2017, and now in 2018, combinations of matte black, copper, brass, silver, and gold will continue to add texture and detail to new designs. These metals will also be the perfect accent to the black and white trend that is bringing black furnishings back into our homes. Lastly, the extremely prevalent Scandinavian designs from 2017 will continue to be seen this year through raw wood features, geometric patterns, and beige and white tones.
