My Natural Haircare Routine

Carly of Au Courant Life showing natural hair routine

Something that I don't talk about too often that is of LARGE importance to me is my hair.

Although I wear my hair straight a lot in my posts, I actually prefer to leave it natural and try to let it air-dry a few times a week. I definitely want to start talking more about my hair and skin because they are so important not only for feeling good about yourself, but even more-so for your health & hygiene!

So today I am taking you through how I treat my hair from what I wash it with in the shower all the way through the following day.

Washing & Drying

I wash my hair strictly with the Wella Enrich Volumnizing Shampoo & Conditioner. I buy both of them in the jumbo-sized bottles, and although they are a bit pricey, they last me around 5 months which is an insane amount. I get my hair highlighted every 6 months so this product has really helped keep my hair from breaking.

Post-Shower

After showering, I immediately use leave-in conditioner spray. I used to religiously used to use the L'Oreal EverCreme Leave-In Conditioner, but they *tragically* discontinued it. I haven't found one I'm as obsessed with yet, but for now I use It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product and also sometimes use John Freida Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Spray.

If I'm going straight to bed, that's all I do. However, if it's daytime, I add a few more steps to the process.

After the spray, I put mousse in to style it. The mousse I use is the BEST on the market (at least I think for my hair it is)- Sebastian Whipped Creme. I basically just use it in a scrunching motion all over my hair.

I next spray a little hairspray just to hold everything in place and prevent frizz. I used to use TRESemme Ultra Fine Mist Hair Spray and absolutely loved the smell and how it worked on my hair. A few months ago I decided to try something new just for fun, so I've been using Argan Oil of Morocco Elevated Finish Spray which is also great for keeping frizz in tact.

Sometimes I will also add some Moroccan oil if my hair is feeling super dry that day. I take a fingertip of Marrakesh Oil and rub it into my hands then run through the bottom half of my hair (especially the ends).

The Next Day

Some people think it's gross, but I wash my hair every other day or every 2 days. This all depends on hair type. My hair doesn't get greasy and actually gets less frizzy by the second day, which is why I prefer to do this.

To keep it looking fresh and smelling good, I use a dry shampoo which I think EVERYONE should invest in. It's especially great to buy a travel size in addition to your regular one for the gym or if you get a little sweaty while running errands etc. The one I use is the Marc Anthony Coconut Clear Dry Shampoo.
